After 6 weeks recess, Adamawa Assembly resumes with impeachment of Deputy Speaker

Adamawa State House of Assembly began fresh sitting after a six weeks recess with the impeachment of its Deputy Speaker, Sunday Peter, and three other principal officers.

The other three officers impeached along the deputy speaker were the House Majority Leader Musa Mahmud, Deputy Majority Leader Mutawali Mohammed, and the Minority Leader Mrs Justina Nkom (SDP-Lamurde) State Constituency.

The officers were impeached during the Assembly’s first plenary after its six weeks recess presided over by the Speaker, Kabiru Mijinyawa.

Soon after the impeachment Emmanuel Tsamdu (APC-Madagali) was elected to replace the sacked deputy speaker while Hassan Burguma (APC-Hong), was also elected the Assembly’s new majority leader.

Abubakar Isa (APC-Shelleng) on the other hand emerged the Assembly’s new deputy majority leader while Lamsumbani Dili (PDP-Demsa) became the minority leader.

The impeachment of the members was sequel to a motion moved by Abubakar Hayatu (APC-Uba/Gaya) which was seconded by Abubakar Abdurrahman (APC-Mubi South).
