Companies in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State’s capital, were sealed yesterday by the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS due to tax dept.
Among the affected companies, Fejudam Services Limited, which is owing Company Income Tax summing up to N22.5 million, acquired between 2009 and 2015. Leader of the FIRS enforcement team, Mrs. Anita Erinne, ordered the premises sealed off after showing a warrant of distraint of the company.
The FIRS enforcement team on Monday sealed two companies in the city. One of the firms, Gani International Services Nigeria Limited, located at Plot 97 Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout, is said to be owing N117.4 million, which, according to Mrs. Erinne consists of Company Income Tax, Education Tax and Value Added Tax between 2008 to 2013.
A senior official of the company told the enforcement team he was unaware of the debt.
Also sealed off is the Specialty Drilling Fluid, with a tax debt of N 506.1 million, acquired through non-remittance of Value Added Tax between 2012 to 2016.
The security men stopped the FIRS team from entering on arrival at the company’s office at 184C Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout.
Attempts to contact the company’s officials proved futile causing the team to eventually force itself in.
