PDP Power Tussle: Jonathan to Meet with Party Stakeholder on Thursday

In a bid to end the leadership crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former President Goodluck Jonathan will on Thursday meet with key stakeholders of the party.

The meeting is expected to bring together representatives from all interest groups within the party.

A cessation of the media war between both parties had earlier been brokered by the chairman of the reconciliation committee of the party and Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson.

The spokesman of the Makarfi-led PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has said they are willing to be part of the stakeholders meeting initiated by the former president.

The Women’s Forum of the PDP yesterday during a courtesy call to the former president in his Abuja Office said he is the only one who can bring all the warring groups together and resolve the issues being faced by the party.

The Leader of the group Senator Biodun Olujimi, former deputy governor of Ekiti State and deputy chief whip of the Senate said: “We intend that former President Jonathan takes the leadership role in our party. He is our leading light and he is the leader of the party. As it is, he is the only former President who is still within the party and alive.

So we believe he is the only voice that can bring all warring groups together and will be able to resolve all the issues. That is exactly what he has decided to do. He even told us that there is a major stakeholders meeting on Thursday this week where efforts will be made to resolve most of the issues in the party.”
