Foreign airlines operating in the country have refused to heed the Federal Government’s appeal to use Kaduna Airport as alternate airport during the six weeks’ closure of Abuja Airport runway for repair works.
Only Ethiopian Airlines is currently operating international flights from the Kaduna Airport.
Passengers have been making alternative arrangements to board flights from Lagos.
The foreign airline operators have cited the security situation in Kaduna State as their reason for refusing to operate flights out of the airport saying that armed robbery attacks and incidents of kidnapping have been on the rise on the Kaduna-Abuja high expressway.
British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France-KLM, South African Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Egypt Air are some of the airlines that have refused to operate out of the Kaduna Airport.
