Cult Group Operating Beside Akure State House of Assembly Arrested

In the battle for superiority, about 10 people have been pronounced dead with many injured as cult group battle over the last three days in Akure, capital city of the state.

Police said they have made over 20 arrests related to the recent crimes in the capital.
The suspects arrested include four ex-convicts, Wale Ayemowa, 18, Ojo Odunayo, 16, Omololu James, 19, released from Lagos State prisons after completing their sentences and also Bidemi Victor 18, who served jail time in Olokuta in Akure.

The four ex-convicts were said to have used a deserted two-storey building close to the state House of Assembly as their safe house while engaging in bloody gunfire at Oke-Aro, Old Garage, NEPA Junction and Odi-Olowo areas.

Reports say that the cult group intended a counter attack after one of its members was killed, which multiplied the casualty rate.
Four of the cult members had allegedly mounted a motorcycle, raided NEPA junction on Monday at about 9p.m, and shot their target.

The recent activities has threatened the peace in the state capital, as civilians fear a similar reoccurrence.

Femi Joseph, the state’s police image maker, said only 3 people were killed while one only sustained an injury from the gunshots during the battle.

According to Joseph, no fewer than 20 suspects, including cult members, murderers, robbers, have been arrested across the capital city.
The suspects were being held custody as they wait to face court charges after investigations are completed.
